When you wish upon a star... Makes no difference who you are.

Dear Advocate,

I’m a representative and team member of “Forget Me Not Juanita Moore Productions” and am determined to ensure that Ms. Moore’s legacy is introduced to future generations. As the daughter of the late filmmaker Stanley Kramer, I’m passionate about recognizing filmmakers, artists, and creatives who move the needle forward regarding social change.

Juanita Moore was a trailblazer for Black performers and endured for seven-plus decades in the film industry. Ms. Moore is historically well known for her compelling performance in Imitation of Life. She also appeared in two Stanley Kramer films that explored social issues, Not As A Stranger and A Child Is Waiting, and many others.

Stanley Kramer has the rare distinction of being the first individual to receive a STAR on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 28th, 1960, under the Motion Pictures category. Being part of this rich Hollywood history is personally significant, and I’m passionate about ensuring deserving individuals are nominated for a STAR.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame committee selected Juanita Moore for a posthumous STAR, which proves how deserving she is of cementing her place in Hollywood history. Juanita dreamed of being recognized with the STAR on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She paved the way for African American performers before and after.

I’m personally encouraging you to contribute to our Juanita Moore STAR fund. It’s important that Juanita be honored with her STAR induction ceremony in October 2024, her birthday month.

It makes me recall the lyrics to an inspiring song: When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are… When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true.
